My thoughts on this book
This closing chapter of the William Warwick series is set during the 2012 Olympics in London.
William Warwick has the big responsibility of the security for the games. But since London was chosen to host them, there are powers who, unhappy with the decision, are determined to turn it into a disaster. They have very clever plans to create maximum damage and humiliation for the hosts. William has the challenge of keeping everyone safe, and making sure the games can run smoothly. Not easy when you don’t know what threats are lurking around.
All the characters are back for this finale, William’s family, his colleagues, bosses and his old adversary, Miles Faulkner. The plot is full of surprises and fast paced. It immerses the reader in the excitement of the games and in the background challenges faced by those trying to keep everyone safe.
Extremely well researched and, as always for Jeffrey Archer, superbly written, this closing chapter of the William Warwick series is an absolutely great read. It can be enjoyed as a stand alone book but you will love it even more if you have read the previous stories in the series.
And it is very chilling to think that some of the threats that make this story exciting….actually happened! But Jeffrey Archer had to promise his research sources he would never reveal which.
You can listen to Jeffrey Archer talk about his book in this interview.
Many thanks to Harper Collins for the ARC of this book.
