What I am reading at the moment…

I must say that my reading has slowed down a lot. I found it difficult to concentrate on my books with what is going on. When loved ones are not well, it has far reaching consequences.

So, I have been looking for comfort reads, just as I would go for comfort food on a grim cold day. My comfort read was to finish the Seven Sisters series. I read the Seven Sisters many years ago and I absolutely loved each and every volume. It was so sad to loose Lucinda and think that we would not read her lovely writing again. But she blessed us with leaving her son with the rest of the story, the piece that brings everything together, “Atlas: The Story of Pa Salt”. Book 8 is therefore written by Lucinda Riley and Harry Whittaker.

Although it was released in May 2023, I kept delaying reading it because I did not want to close the chapter of the Seven Sisters. It felt right now to read it and enjoy the saga once more. I have really enjoyed the book. It slowly brings back every detail of the series into context and fills the gaps with the truth behind it all. It is very nicely written and keeps bringing new elements until the end. I had already some thoughts about the story of Pa Salt when I read the Seven Sisters. Some of them came true and there were also many unexpected turns and surprises.

A great end to the saga and a really good read. Harry Whittaker has done an amazing job of picking up from where each book left off, weaving all the details together and bringing the whole story to a conclusion in the very same way Lucinda would have done. Really impressive, especially when realising that the book was published on the same day in 40 different languages or so. A huge achievement for the author and all the translators and an amazing tribute to Lucinda Riley.

For those of you who have not yet read the Seven Sisters, it is really important to read them in the right order. Lucinda was very thorough with her research and documentation of her books and her website is very informative. You can have a look at it and discover the series.

I also enjoyed this interview with Harry Whittaker where he talks about his mum, writing Atlas and even drops the exciting news of a possible film in the making.

I am very privileged to have been offered an advance readers copy of “The Hidden Girl” by Harry Whittaker and Lucinda Riley, a rewritten novel she had originally published under her original pen name of Lucinda Edmonds. I will very soon get into this novel and will keep you posted soon about it.

Enjoy your pages, whatever you are reading at the moment….
