What I am reading at the moment…

I realise I have not written this post for a while. It has been a hectic and a bit complicated time. I did not feel like reading much and I was not able to focus on a book, which is very usual for me. But I am back on track and very busy with my TBR pile. I am a typical book addict some my TBR never decreases, quite the opposite.

At the moment, it contains quite a few cookbooks and lifestyle books on various topics such as fusion Indian/UK/French cooking, Italian cooking, foraging and yet another sourdough book. I am also really looking forward to reading the third instalment in the St Kilda trilogy by Karen Swan, the Lost Lover, which I have the privilege of having received as an advance readers’ copy. I have not read very much in French lately, so that’s also one of my short term plans and I am looking forward to jumping into the fourth book of the Bureau des affaires occultes by Eric Fouassier, entitled Le chant maléfique, to be published on 2 May.

I have realised over time that I really enjoy hearing from the authors. I find it always enlightening to understand how the author came to write about a particular topic, how they did their research and why they may have made some choices in their plot. In particular for historical fiction, it is always fascinating to find out more about the research and to hear how the author worked with historical facts and fiction together. So, I now explore this a bit more when I read a book. I look at interviews with the author and read with attention the author’s notes. I am sure I am not alone in this and so I now include references to such conversations with the authors in my blog posts. It is sometimes a video interview, or a newspaper or a podcast, or even the author’s website.

Hope to be back soon with this general blogpost. Enjoy your reading!
