Murder on Lake Garda (Tom Hindle)

In the beautiful setting of the private island Castello Fiore, a huge party is in preparation for the very special wedding of Laurence, heir to the extremely wealthy Heywood family, to social media influencer Eva, daughter of businessman Vito Bianchi.
There is a whole cast of characters present. Bride, groom and parents, business partners, brothers and sisters, girlfriends, photographer, wedding planner and some rather shady mafiosos. Just as the wedding is about to begin, a great scream is heard, a grim discovery is made on a nearby cove and we plunge into the murky waters of old stories, rivalries, business deals gone wrong, debts of all sorts to be settled, cover ups and strong ambitions. Robyn, the brother of the groom’s girlfriend, puts her investigative journalism training to good use and sets out to find the truth. So many of the characters are unpleasant that the reader has a great choice of baddies and is carefully led in different directions all along the story.
It was the first book by Tom Hindle that I read and I really enjoyed this whodunnit story with all the participants locked into one place, this island, from where they cannot escape and where events continue to enfold all the way along.
A good plot, a great setting and a very entertaining read. Really enjoyed it.
