David Burroughs is in jail, five years into his sentence for killing his son. He maintains that he did not do it but no one believes him. One day, in the middle of his bleak jail life, his sister in law Rachel visits him. She shows him a picture she found recently which she is convinced shows Matthew, his son, very much alive.
Should I say more about the story? Of course not. I really hate spoilers and I am not about to do this to other readers. But what I can say is that Rachel’s visit changes matters for ever. The story kept me reading quickly and until late at night, matching the fast pace of the events. There are lots of twists. Although some of them are a little imaginative, or even far fetched, it all works as a story.
As usual with Coben’s novels, very well written and with strong and interesting characters. I really enjoyed this book. I don’t say that because I am a Coben fan, but because this was a really great read.
